This position is based in our Perth office in Western Australia with full relocation assistance provided for suitable candidates interested in joining a global team of multidisciplinary engineers, designers, planners, project managers and advisors.

Job Description

The Highways Design Manager is crucial to the success of any infrastructure project, you will be responsible for the overall design, development and delivery including having the ultimate carriage on any technical decision as well as ensuring projects are delivered within the program. This is a senior-level role that requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and highly advanced project management skills.

With an eye for the market and a collaborative personality, you will also drive a strong client-centric culture, helping to position the team for success.

This position offers career growth potential and provides an opportunity for you to play an instrumental role in the Transport Team, to help develop and mentor the next generation.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the development of highways design projects from concept to completion.

  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

  • Review and approve design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Coordinate with other internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.

  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the design process.

Qualifications

What are we looking for from you?

As a Highways Design Manager within our Transport Team, you will possess some of the following:

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and meeting and exceeding delivery requirements.

  • Experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals to deliver exceptional service.

  • Excellent knowledge of project management, and business management systems and procedures, and financial systems

  • Strong client engagement and business development experience would be advantageous.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience as a Highways Design Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in highway design.

  • In-depth knowledge of highway design principles, standards, and best practices.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools.
