Job Description

As Technical Director – Planning, you will provide leadership and technical excellence across our Aotearoa New Zealand Planning Team, creating value-driven solutions that set AECOM apart in the marketplace. You will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic projects, managing client relationships, and driving the growth of our planning capabilities.

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise on major projects.

  • Lead the development of innovative planning solutions and technical best practices.

  • Mentor and develop the next generation of planning professionals.

  • Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities and responding to market conditions.

  • Build and strengthen client relationships, ensuring long-term success.

  • Support AECOM’s strategic direction and contribute to the planning and wider environment business' overall success.

Qualifications

What are we looking for from you?

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental planning or urban planning

  • 20+ years of relevant planning experience with a proven track record in business development and client relationship management

  • Knowledge of the NZ market for consulting services

  • RMA and associated National Policy Statements and Environmental Standards

  • Relevant District and Regional Plans

  • Local Authority and Environmental Court procedures and role of expert witnesses
