AECOM Entry Level Engineer-Environmental/Remediation in Bakersfield, California

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented and high-energized project engineer (civil). The project engineer provides engineering support to ensure project compliance within the established project scope, regulatory framework, specifications, and engineering standards. The project engineer is a key member of the project team and participates in project development, execution and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with task planning, engineering, analysis, and reporting for remedial design, construction implementation and compliance reporting under general direction of a Sr. Manager and/or Engineer.

  • Research and solve technical problems in accordance with engineering standards, methodology and protocols.

  • Provide technical oversight of project scoping and coordinating with client, regulatory agencies, team members and subcontractors to resolve potential issues associated with design, construction, permitting, and reporting.

  • Assist Sr. Project Manager with managing technical aspects of numerous projects.

  • Provides technical assistance in the field of projects associated with site cleanup, site closure or site with remedial treatment systems.

  • Assist with implementation of standard environmental investigations including, groundwater sampling, soil sampling, soil gas sampling, and well installation under supervision and direction by the Sr. Geologist.

  • Undertake most aspects of reporting, including data interpretation and internal recommendations within established guidelines.

  • Coordinate work and seek input as appropriate from the Sr. Project Manager and technical resources to ensure work is performed consistent with the project expectations.

  • Participate in aspects of proposal preparation, engineering cost estimate, defining scope of work, and subcontractor procurement.

  • Manage tasks associated with pre and post field activities such as preparations of health and safety plans, obtaining permits, soliciting subcontractors, and contributing to report preparation.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical or Geotechnical engineering or related field.

  • Experience conducting operations and maintenance on various remediation systems.

  • Experience in sampling and understanding methods used in groundwater, soil, and soil vapor investigations.

  • Strong understanding of engineering and construction practices and health and safety protocols, procedures and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Great written, oral, and communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow documentation protocols.

  • Self-starter and able to drive project task forward with minimal supervision.

  • Strong leadership skills and work well in a team environment.

  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) training

  • 8-hr HAZWOPER Supervisor training.
