We are looking for a creative and highly motivated candidate to join our busy office in Basingstoke, UK, located close to easy access public transport. As a CAD and Graphics technician within our Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Arboriculture Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including producing Tree Constraint and Protection Plans, Landscape Constraint and Opportunities Plans and providing wider technical support to the team. The scope will include preparation of plans using various software packages, potentially undertaking occasional site work and assessments and working collaboratively across our network of offices.

Our collaborative approach means that you will be working closely with architects, engineers, ecologists, economists, community outreach and other related professionals to develop award winning integrated projects. Our local practice network leverages AECOM’s global presence to address urban and climate changes in the next century, and to serve as catalysts for regeneration.

Our large, national team delivers a range of exciting and varied projects across the UK and beyond. We work in dynamic and challenging environments, in multi-disciplinary teams delivering solutions to a broad base of public and private sector clients (including Highways England, HS2, the Environment Agency, Local Authorities, the National Trust, and educational institutions) working in the fields of development, energy, oil and gas, water, government and transportation.


  • Working as part of the Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Arboriculture team to produce drawings in AutoCAD and other software packages.

  • Use of AutoCAD, Photoshop, Indesign, Sketchup, Revit and our in-house developed tree importer tool to prepare base plans etc.

  • Preparation of presentation drawings.

  • Preparation of graphics information for planning applications, detailed design and subsequent construction information.

  • Use of GIS based mapping systems.

  • Development of graphics and layout for tender documents, and work with other teams within the business.

Minimum Requirements

The ideal graduate should meet the following requirements:

  • Ideally Level 1 or 2 in CAD and/or graphics packages either as previous work experience or as personal development within this area.

  • An enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated approach with excellent communication and good grasp of maths and the English language, with GCSEs in English and maths grade C/Level 4 or above.

  • Proven Photoshop, AutoCAD, Word and Excel skills

  • Good attention to detail and compliance.

  • A passion and a keen eye for design.

  • Ability to deliver CAD and graphics requirements to the team whilst successfully managing time to meet project deadlines.

  • Client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach willing to contribute to project success.


Training is on-the-job and we will provide you with all the tools and support you need to continually develop in this role.

There may also be the opportunity in the future to develop further via our trainee scheme.
