Position Title Entry Level Construction Engineer

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Construction Engineer for employment in the Bismarck, ND office. The position will entail construction inspection on various North Dakota Interstates and Highways. This position will be working with the project manager and contractor to assure that all work performed by the contractor meets the specifications, is measured and tracked and that the materials used are appropriate. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a daily diary of all contractor and inspector activities, and will assist with project close out.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Assist with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used
Assist with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
BS in Civil Engineering or related field
Familiar with and able to read contract plans and specifications
Computer literate and able to work with Microsoft Office products
Must be willing to work in the wide range of North Dakota temperatures
Able to work outside of normal working hours
Must also be a self-starter, and be able to work independently
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
Experience in construction inspection or management
Experience working on DOT type projects
Familiar with NDDOT construction procedures
