Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Architect with experience in technical design of complex buildings to join our Boston practice and foster technical excellence and innovation across a variety of building types.

We are seeking a leader who is driven by a passion for developing technical details and specifications, delivering quality work, mentoring staff, and coordinating design across multi-disciplinary teams.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

As an Aviation Design and Technical Leader with recognized airport expertise and experience, you will lead interdisciplinary teams. Leveraging your industry experience and technical acumen, you will drive a wide range of project types and sizes through all phases of design, documentation, and construction.

The successful candidate will be an experienced team leader and will have the opportunity to lead not only from a project perspective, but from a practice and culture standpoint. The right person will be an integral part of our aviation architecture practice.

What you will do:

  • You will review the design and technical development and delivery of a wide range of projects in the studio. You will have a role in guiding teams and projects through SD, DD, and CDs, providing technical details, design and review

  • Create and coordinate Revit models for complex buildings with a keen understanding of the construction process, specifications, and applicable building codes

  • Organize and oversee the preparation of Construction Documents

  • Reviewing BIM, DDs, CDs, submittals and RFIs to ensure that all conform to appropriate specifications, standards and building codes during construction

  • Develop technical solutions to a wide range of challenging technical problems

  • Oversee the work of more junior designers and architects

  • Manage technical interface coordination including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, landscape, and civil consultants

  • Support coordination of technical details between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Licensed Architect with NCARB Certification

  • Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) or Bachelor of Science in Architecture plus a Master’s degree in Architecture

  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in Architectural design, resolving technical issues

  • Revit and BIM as well as experience with Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, and software such as Rhino, SketchUp, or other visualization tools

  • Expert knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building systems

  • Experience with project delivery types including CM at Risk

  • Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents

  • Experience leading technical development in integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction document completion and may perform construction administration

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $170,000.00.
