AECOM Architectural Graduate in Brisbane, Australia

Job Summary

Our Design and Planning team have an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Architectural Graduate to join our dynamic studio in Brisbane. Reporting to the Practice Director, this role will see you liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders, giving you the opportunity to manage small projects under the guidance of our well-established Project Architects and Directors.

Working with a tight-knit group of architects, you will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of projects within an integrated team environment. With projects ranging in size and scope, you will be given exposure across a range sectors including Transport, Power & Industry, Mining and Urban Development, allowing you to build your portfolio and support your career growth. The successful applicant will have a positive attitude and be an energetic self-starter with ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.

As part of this role you will be required to effectively:

  • Prepare conceptual and schematic design plans and reports for a range of projects;

  • Prepare documentation packages for projects;

  • Implement and use AECOM’s QM system within all project work, maintain and refine in-house design standards, procedures, and policy;

  • Contribute to the team environment, practicing open communication, a participative approach to meetings and work and commitment to projects;

  • Contribute to successful project completion by providing technical services in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives as agreed with Project Managers;

  • Perform complex drafting assignment utilising REVIT and related packages. (Revisto Navisworks, Lumion Adobe suite and other)

  • Graphically translate visual and verbal instructions into concept and working drawings including preparation of graphic concept design reports;

  • Assist with preparing proposals where required

  • Contribute to successful project completion by providing technical services in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ (Post master’s degree) experience;

  • Relevant experience in a small to medium sized Architectural Practice;

  • Knowledge of NCC and other standards;

  • Basic understanding of cross-discipline issues on architectural projects;

  • Ability to develop schematic design and apply critical thinking techniques;

  • Ability to carry out research and organise information with specific emphasis on digital technology and using data to assist projects.

  • Ability to articulate issues and findings from research

  • Ability to write reports on small-medium projects under supervision

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;

  • Willingness to assist in basic team administration tasks, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications (including master’s degree in Architecture or Similar Industry Qualification).
