AECOM’s Power and Energy Business is focused on providing engineering services for the development and deployment of energy infrastructure projects across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. Our sectors of focus encompass nuclear power, fossil fired power plant, wind and hydro power, energy estates and transmission and distribution systems.

The Engineering team within our Thermal Generation, Power & Energy business concentrates on the development, design, and maintenance and project management of processes that generate power through gas and steam thermodynamic cycles and that use energy in the manufacture of products through operations affecting the physical and chemical properties of materials, including desalination.

Many of our engineers are chartered and have a proven track record of providing high quality design and consultancy services. We encourage membership and networking activities in industry bodies including the IChemE, IMechE and IET sector specific bodies as part of our team’s personal development.

The successful candidate will join the Thermal Generation, Power & Energy team and be involved in AECOM project work including:

  • System design and specification for power, energy and process applications

  • Process plant design

  • Options selection & evaluation

  • Value Engineering

  • Concept design

  • Equipment design & specification

  • Control system specification

  • CDM and Safety in Design Assessment

  • Design substantiation

  • Plant optimisation

  • Plant modifications

  • Risk identification, management and problem solving

  • Multi-disciplinary team working

  • Development of AECOM technical processes

  • Delivery of assigned package of work to cost, quality and timescale requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc/ BEng in Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering or equivalent

  • A 2:2 (or equivalent) classification or above

  • Have no travel/Visa restriction for technical visits to Europe, Middle East, India and Africa as well as the USA

  • Demonstrable interest in pursuing a career in Thermal Power

  • Fluent in written & oral English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eligible to achieve UK Baseline Security Clearance to handle official sensitive classified documents

  • Hold a valid full driving licence for the UK and a willingness to travel

  • MSc/MEng in Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering or equivalent

  • Associate Membership of relevant Professional Engineering Institution
