Job Description

AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a Buildings Project Manager with experience and interest in working on buildings projects to join our Burnaby-based team. The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering high quality and innovative projects. This individual may be a licensed Architect or Engineer and/or be PMP accredited.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an individual with experience in the design and construction management of large buildings projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing, coordinating and directing the Design Team throughout the entire project lifetime. The Project Manager is responsible for implementing the design vision as part of the technical performance of the work, including the full coordination of the overall project design with all other design disciplines.

You will be a part of a talented, multi-disciplinary team of Architects, Urban Planners and Engineers working on projects spanning multiple sectors. The position offers a chance to be at the forefront of exciting endeavours that strive for excellence in design and embraces sustainability with an opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with global experts. Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall planning, coordination and control of several projects from inception to completion, with the goal of producing functionally and financially viable projects that will be completed on time within authorized cost and to the required quality

  • Manages scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management while building strong client relationships is key

  • Write and coordinate winning proposals, attract new clients and retain current clients as required

  • At a project level, provide clear guidance to designers and technical staff to meet client objectives Manage financial and cost control aspects of projects

  • Meet with clients to review project requirements

  • Manage a project team to produce fully coordinated working drawings and project specifications

  • Collaborate with management on preparation of project proposals

  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing with project team and clients

  • Preparation of design and contract documents, document checking, conduct construction review and contract administration throughout the duration of a project

  • Communicate with construction team to provide information and help resolve problems

  • Responsible for overseeing several active projects and be part of our marketing team in sourcing new work

  • Client communication, internal project team communication, consultant coordination, design development, drawing review and contract administration

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

In order to be considered for the position, candidates must possess, at a minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture/Engineering + 4 (four) years of experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities for commercial, institutional, and light industrial client

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Architectural or Engineering Designation

  • PMP accreditation

  • Experience in managing large complex client building programs is an asset

  • Technical knowledge of building construction and relevant Building Code

  • Experience fast-tracking building and environmental permitting and experience working with municipal approvals

  • Familiar with construction administration protocols

  • Business acumen

  • high level of literacy regarding financial reporting and workplan composition

  • Ability to work within a team environment, ability to co-ordinate with a multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

  • Ability to multi-task combined with strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills

  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning

  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge, document review, consultant coordination and experience in field review and contract administration

  • Dedicated, with an all-hands-on-deck attitude towards completing the work efficiently and accurately

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $92,869.86 - $130,000.00.
