Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineering Graduate for our team based in Calgary, Alberta. This is an ideal opportunity for a young engineer looking to venture into the world of bridge design.

The team you would be joining is a high-performing group, having delivered preliminary or detailed design for over 100 major structures over the past 15 years, with the core team members (drafting and engineering) having worked together for all of those designs. With over 15 design build/P3 pursuits and being teamed with the successful proponent for 7 of those pursuits, along with the design and construction of 7 conventionally delivered interchanges, the group you would be joining offers an enormous breadth of experience for you to either draw from or add to. With the current push for infrastructure development in North America, particularly in rail and bus transit, this job would provide an enormous opportunity to work on community-changing projects that don't require relocation.

This is a full-time role expected to begin in May 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts structural engineering designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Contributing to the writing, typing, editing, and/or formatting of technical letters and reports.

  • Prepare and review of contract specifications including cost estimates and quantities.

  • Undertake site inspection of structures.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have completed or will be completing their Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of structural design experience working with Canadian codes and design standards.

  • Familiarity with bridge components and design

  • Experience designing in steel, concrete and wood

  • Some experience with industry standard structural analysis and design softwares such as SAP2000, MIDAS, SAFE, ETABS and STAAD PRO

  • Competent in MS Office

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00.
