Job Description
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Technical Excellence:
Facilitates in the coordination of small - mid-size project teams of discipline-led engineers.
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment as an experienced engineer.
Provides specialised technical input into studies and design work for the expertise and identifies discrepancies in results.
Follows existing or develops design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by self and others.
Participates in and creates an interdisciplinary review of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection).
Has knowledge of construction costs relating to their specific areas of design.
Gathers and correlates engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Prepares technical specifications.
Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision—technical coordination with authorities for approvals.
Solves problems encountered using knowledge, innovation and modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous works.
Contributes to the area of expertise, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivers solutions where precedent may not exist.
Performs technical quality reviews of design calculations, BIM models and drawings, including documentation in project record by adhering to quality, occupational health and safety and corporate standards.
Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities.
Mentor Junior staff
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain client relationships.
Attends client meetings as technical support to gather information and discuss project requirements, explain/ defend work, etc.
Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals—the ability to present solutions to clients in a professional and technically competent manner.
Interface with PLC’s, DCS systems and Building Management Systems and design the interface Control Systems.
Design of CCTV Camera and Access Control Installations
IT Network Design
Preparation and management of schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement etc.
Electrical engineering and design during all project phases according to client, national and international standards.
Assessing of Client / Project Electrical Engineering Requirements.
Prepare concept design and the ability to objectively evaluate both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives / requirements.
Cost Estimation of ICT scope of work, including equipment and construction costs.
Interface with Energy Efficiency and providing energy efficient electrical solutions.
Interface and Familiar with Quality of Power Supply requirements and evaluation.
Design schemes to reduce Electromagnetic interference and specify EMC requirements.
Design and specify communications systems with Electrical equipment / systems including Serial Communications using Profibus / Fieldbus, Ethernet etc.
Utilise vendor data and work with other disciplines as required for engineering and design.
Participate and Perform squad checks of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines.
Develop and check equipment purchase specification and develop RFQ’s
Develop technical scope of work and tender documentation and bills of quantities for construction contracts.
Develop tender documentation, adjudicate tenders, provide re-measurement of works and approve contract claims.
Prepare Project Scheduling and Planning, developing basic Barcharts for Electrical Engineering input to project management team.
Manage progress & quality control activities for equipment manufacture.
Conduct vendor inspections and factory acceptance testing of equipment.
Manage specialist equipment contractors.
Provide field engineering support to construction and commissioning teams.
Project handover and closeout documentation.
Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
Assist in the setting up of standard engineering documentation and methodology for ICT engineering unit.
Develop Client relations and extend the client base.
Assist in the preparation of tenders
Qualifications
BTech Degree from a reputable university
12+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification
Professionally registered as a Technologist with ECSA
