Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented and experienced Civil Water Engineer with a home base in Chelmsford, MA. It is expected that this role will provide support to projects throughout the Northeast US. This is a hybrid position.

The ideal candidate will have extensive civil design and construction experience with stormwater design for municipal water and wastewater projects. The preferred candidate will have a proven ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver successful projects. General technical background in condition assessment and implementing management solutions for pressurized water systems is also desired.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead complex design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases, including alternative delivery projects.

  • Experience working with mid-level staff and leading multi-discipline project design teams virtually and locally

  • Interface with client and regulatory agencies and play a major role on presentations to existing or potential clients.

  • Experience in civil and stormwater design.

  • Design of pipe conveyance and coordination/understanding of modeling of collection systems.

  • Develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Oversee and prepare engineering reports and documentations.

  • Prepare engineering services proposals, fee estimates, and schedules.

  • Conduct field inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.

  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in design and engineering.

  • Provide construction administration support.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental engineering plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with an emphasis in water, wastewater, or other related field

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of MA or ability to obtain within 6 months.

  • Demonstrated experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables.

  • Proven and demonstrated experience working on storm water, water, wastewater, or flood protection/resilience projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater design, analysis, installation, inspection, and management in design within dense urban settings

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing.

  • Strong knowledge of water/wastewater/stormwater design codes, standards, and regulations

  • Pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation experience

  • Experience with combined sewer overflow communities with planning, design and construction of combined sewer overflow infrastructure (Storage tanks/tunnels/sewer separation)

  • Experience with civil design related to resiliency projects

  • Coordination of projects with civil design and modeling teams

  • Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.

  • Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.

  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.

  • Self-starter and ability to take initiative.

  • Experienced technical writer.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for US Employment Authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $145,000.00.
