Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Freight Rail Project Manager - Civil/Track Design in Chicago, Ill.

The well-versed, dynamic and proven Professional Engineer (P.E.) selected will become an integral asset for AECOM’s growing regional rail design presence and report into the AECOM U.S -West Region Rail Group.

The selected Rail Design Engineering expert will drive design excellence with project deliveries for an exciting array and diversity of freight rail design projects. This professional engineer for AECOMs Rail Group focused on supporting and growing our Class I, short line and industrial rail clients.

The Senior Freight Rail Project Manager – Rail Systems Design role provides a performance driven opportunity for real career growth towards enhanced leadership positions within the AECOM U.S - West Rail Group.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as an AECOM senior project manager on rail projects from planning, preliminary engineering, and final design.

  • Accountable for developing project scope, budget and schedule and lead client contract negotiations.

  • Serve as a Client Account Manager for all AECOM interaction with Regional Rail Clients.

  • Coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with others team members as well as support business development.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to subordinate managers and technical engineering staff.

  • Performance at this level requires experience in a professional position and demonstrated experience with the types of tasks that will be required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 10 years of related rail experience or demonstrated equivalency of rail experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

  • Professional Engineering license in Illinois (or ability to obtain)

  • 8 years of relevant experience in rail design, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Proficient with OpenRoads/OpenRail or other BIM Software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D/GeoPak)

  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers and technicians

  • Be detail-oriented

  • Excellent communication and writing skill

Additional Information

  • Travel may be required for this position.

  • Due to nature of the involved project U.S. work- sponsorship is not available with this opportunity.

  • Offered rate of compensation (Chicago, Ill.) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $180,000.00 - $260,000.00
