Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Manager to be based in Columbia, SC. As a Civil Manager with growing technical expertise and experience in demanding design driven projects, you will work with interdisciplinary teams on High Tech and Logistics Projects in a Programmatic approach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design of utilities, roadways, general site development, grading and drainage, best management practices, erosion control, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, hydraulics

  • Drainage studies include low impact development strategies & hydrology.

  • Preparation of drawings, specifications, basis of design, technical memos.

  • Preparation of permits such as NPDES, SWPPP, Grading, DCAB, Civil Support of an Environmental Assessment

  • Works with other professional staff members to collaborate on reports, studies, drawings, and design narratives

  • Utilizes AutoCad Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint

  • Works in an office setting with potential meetings outside of the office or visits to sites where a project may be located

  • Prepares complex project deliverables using a team of junior technical and support staff

  • May have formal supervisory responsibilities defining team operating standards and ensuring essential procedures are followed

  • Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programs

  • Use client credibility gained from delivering high-quality technical services to expand work assignments

  • Communicates with clients to discuss work scope, request information to support project execution, and receive client comments on draft work products

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Performs interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and identifies discrepancies in results

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, plus eight (8) years of relevant Civil Engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • 2 years of demonstrated Civil Engineering Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of experience

  • A current EIT in the State of South Carolina with ability to attain PE within 2 years

  • Excellent working knowledge of CAD Civil 3D, BIM-Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Sketchup, Lumion, V-Ray and Rhino 3D

  • Experience in Autodesk Revit

  • Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks and Enscape

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations

  • Desire to be mentored by leadership and provide mentorship to junior staff

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Awareness of one's own abilities

  • Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work with a innate desire for follow-through

  • Ability to work independently and with large groups of technical minded people with minimal oversight

  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines

  • Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment

  • Knowledge seeker that is curious about their profession and innovations to serve in better ways

  • Appreciative and service oriented with a willingness to serve in a sense of urgency

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $150,000.00.
