Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly skilled and proficient Civil Engineer for immediate employment in the Conshohocken, PA office in a full-time role. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment in both in-person and virtual (telework) settings. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while collaborating with a team comprised of a variety of technical staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas, electric utilities, solar and other renewables, and other focus areas.
This person will be part of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team and use their civil engineering and design experience and critical thinking skills to work with our team of civil engineers and technical staff to support our clients and AECOM’s project teams. The ideal candidate will need to thrive in a challenging environment, be flexible on schedule to meet project deadlines, meet billable hours goals and have attention to detail, and provide a broad range of civil engineering skills and quality control (QA/QC) capabilities.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Be able to prepare and complete civil engineering and grading plans, calculations, and other design elements to support permit applications in Pennsylvania and other states in the mid-Atlantic area.
Work with the project Professional Engineer on civil design and grading work, drainage and stormwater management plans and design, supporting calculations, and permit applications.
Be familiar with state regulations and permit requirements for NPDES Stormwater for Construction; SWPPPs, Waterways/Wetlands, Grading and Drainage Plans, and others.
Attend agency meetings on behalf of AECOM and our clients.
Perform field work for stormwater management facilities installation inspections, erosion and sediment control, transportation, permit closeout, infiltration testing and other field work.
Perform quality assurance reviews of civil engineering data and design components.
Work with the EPP team on a variety of utility construction and environmental impact assessment projects.
Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation, including quality control documentation.
Coordinate with internal teams such as cultural resources, ecologists, GIS staff, geologists, and other technical experts.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree In Civil Engineering, or a related field +4 years of Civil Engineering-related project work, civil site design, drainage, water resources, permit requirements, or other relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or passed the NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering Examination (EIT) for Pennsylvania.
In depth knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3-D, HEC-RAS, and other software.
The position may require periodic travel (including overnight), extended work hours, working remotely, evening or weekend work hours.
Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer license or EIT in other states (NJ, DE, MD, VA, OH).
Experience working with electric utility, natural gas, and/or renewable energy clients.
In depth knowledge of civil site design processes (grading, cut/fill analysis, drainage and stormwater management designs, erosion and sediment control, etc.).
Utility permitting and design experience, technical writing capabilities, and working knowledge of state environmental regulations and requirements.
Staff training or mentoring experience in a multidisciplinary civil engineering role.
High degree of self and team motivation and performance.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent and relevant references.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $81,000.00 - $140,000.00.
