Job Description

Civil Engineer III

We’re seeking a passionate individual to join our team in either Coral Gables or Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As an experienced civil engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing innovative infrastructures for transit/rail and ports/marine projects. At AECOM, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on communities and contribute to a sustainable future! This is a hybrid work arrangement position.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Transit/Rail and Ports/Marine groups on the planning and design of civil engineering projects

  • May assign, track, and review tasks of technicians or designers; technical discretion applied to the first revision of technician work product

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and reports

  • Performs work by agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Responsible for managing the timely completion of multiple assigned tasks

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete the primary design elements for engineering works

  • Follows and directs the internal quality process and identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance and mentorship for entry-level engineers

  • Preparation of reports, construction plans, and technical specifications.

  • Collaborate with design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers, technicians, and planners.

  • Working under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team members and aiding with tasks including preparing engineering-related calculations, drawings, and visual aids.

  • Coordinating with project teams preparing various deliverables such as studies, reports, drawings, cost estimates, design analyses, and supporting documentation.

  • Attending project meetings, both internal and with clients, and documenting decisions and actions needed along with responsibilities, for distribution to the team.

  • Aide in preparing presentation materials for client meetings, agendas and minutes.

  • Support business development efforts such as tracking RFQ’s/RFP’s announcements and for marketing efforts associated with responding to RFQ’s/RFP’s.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field and 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project)

  • Experience with AutoCAD

Preferred:

  • MS Civil Engineering or related field

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within the first year of employment

  • Previous design experience on transportation projects including schematic development and preparation of plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E)

  • Experience with Open Roads, InRoads and/or MicroStation software.

  • Experience planning and organizing tasks and teams

  • Experience with business development/client relations

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $125,000.00.
