Job Description
Join AECOM's 2026 Graduate Program
Are you eager to start your career in road design and engineering? AECOM invites you to apply for the role of Graduate Highways Engineer within our esteemed Highways team. This opportunity is part of our Graduate Program, where you will gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in road design and engineering.
Role Overview: As a Graduate Highways Engineer at AECOM, you will be a key member of our Highways team, working on impactful road design projects and gaining exposure to essential design software such as AutoCAD and Civil3D.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist senior engineers in preparing scope of works documents and project design criteria.
Apply Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures to ensure sound and coordinated design across disciplines.
Gain experience in road design, including plans, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, and signage.
Utilize PowerPoint to create presentations and progress reports.
Demonstrate strong communication and technical report writing skills.
Develop proficiency in road design software.
Familiarity with engineering standards, codes of practice, and local authority guidelines is advantageous.

Is proficient in design software or willing to learn.
Has a keen attention to detail and a desire to deliver high-quality work.
Have previous consultancy road design internship experience is a plus.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with courses taken in Roads/Highways related subjects from an accredited University
Candidates must be recent 2024 or 2025 graduates (no later than Sept 2025) to be eligible for AECOM's Graduate Program.
Successful applicants must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.3 or 2:1 ( or equivalent) and above.
If you hold a Master’s degree, it must have started within 12 months of finishing your Bachelor’s to meet the program’s continuous education requirement.
Candidates with more than 1 year of postgraduate work experience are not eligible for the program and are encouraged to apply for our professional-level roles instead.
