Job Summary

AECOM is seeking to hire a Traffic Engineer who will be responsible for the delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape schemes in our Transportation team based in our Dun Laoghaire Office.

We are looking to grow this team with individuals who have a sound technical background following several major project wins. The candidate should have a desire to see the innovative realisation of walking, cycling, public transport, safety, and traffic management projects from design through to completion. Experience of Local Authority project design and implementation would also be beneficial. This is an opportunity to improve the environment in a practical way, join a growing team with opportunities for advancement.

The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team that works closely with our in-house urban designers and highways teams to create Complete Streets and enhance people's lives through good design.

Role responsibilities:

  • Experience of undertaking and managing tasks in a project programme

  • Assist with the preparation preliminary or detailed design and project delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes

  • Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant technical standards

  • Assist with the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required.

  • Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation.

  • Coach, mentor, support, and provide day to day guidance to graduates, apprentices, and trainee technicians

  • Developing both internal and external client relationships

  • Participate as a team member on a number of levels, including office disciplines and projects.

  • Be proactive and contribute to a safer work environment along with personal, professional development

  • Familiar with relevant Health and Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team.

  • Support Senior Management of Traffic and Roads team.

  • Sharing knowledge and supporting team

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject

  • Membership of recognised professional institutions

  • Should be a working towards chartered status

  • A desire to progress and assist in team growth

  • You will be a Chartered Engineer or will be working towards an appropriate Professional status with membership of a professional institution over the next 12 months
