Job Description

The AECOM Bridge Construction Inspection Team in Edmonton or Calgary is seeking a self-motivated and team-oriented Bridge Construction Inspector to support bridge projects across Alberta. This role will primarily involve supporting project management and design teams by delivering on-site quality assurance and contract administration. Projects are expected to be located in rural areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review contractor submissions and coordinate responses with the AECOM design team

  • Monitor contract quantities and prepare and/or support contractor progress estimates

  • Inspect contractor work to ensure compliance with contract requirements

  • Chair project meetings and prepare meeting minutes

  • Coordinate with Owners Representatives on project status and potential issues as needed

  • Review contractor quality control measures to confirm adherence to contract specifications

  • Prepare inspection reports and other documentation required by the client

  • Maintain a daily written diary of key conversations and site activities

  • Collect and organize engineering data using established procedures

  • Perform routine engineering tasks involving calculations and basic testing

  • Propose solutions to new problems encountered in the field

  • Identify discrepancies in project results and escalate as appropriate

  • Provide guidance to junior engineers or team members

  • Perform tasks within the defined budget and schedule with moderate supervision

  • Review effectiveness and compliance of contractor Traffic Accommodation and Environmental Compliance Operation Plans

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma with a minimum of 8 years of bridge construction experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Construction, Structural Engineering (or related field) with 6 years of relevant experience

  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PEng or CET designation

  • 10+ years of experience in the bridge construction industry

  • Prior inspection experience on Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC) bridge projects

  • Safety training and experience specific to bridge construction

  • Experience managing direct client communication and fostering strong working relationships

  • Familiarity with TEC specifications and procedures

  • Experience with partnered project delivery methods

Additional Information

Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $95,000.00 - $140,000.00.
