AECOM CWB Welder by Hand in Fort Mackay, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a CWB Welder Journeyman, By Hand to join our Imperial Oil Limited Kearl project located at Fort Mackay, Alberta. This is a temporary position on a 10/10 shift rotation.

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welding usually involves applying heat to metal pieces to melt and fuse them together. Welders use different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements for finished product strength. For a typical welding project, they: develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders; clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch weld parts together. Welders may also build up worn parts by welding layers of high-strength hard-metal alloys onto them.

  • Weld up to 30 inches (FDI) per day when material is available, some welds may be customized while others may be repetitive procedures to complete the work.

  • Use welding processes such as CWB FLUX All positions

  • Follows various company policies and procedures such as: ISO 9001-2008, AECOM's Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Client Specific WPS and AECOM's Safety Program

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. Qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Apprentice of Journeyman Certificate of Completion in the Welding trade.

  • Construction Safety Training System - 09 (CSTS-09).

  • First Aid – Standard Level C/CPR

  • CWB FLUX All positions

  • Successful pass of weld test on production welds is a requirement
