Job Summary

AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm is currently seeking Insulator Apprentices to join our OilSands project sites in Fort McMurray, AB and surrounding areas. This is a temporary role, but there will be continuous job opportunities available by transferring from various site to site.

  • Project Details: Various Shutdowns and Outages for Spring 2019

  • Shutdowns / Outages : Starts April 1st 2019

  • Location : Fort McMurray, AB and surrounding areas

  • Travel : Charter flights are provided from Calgary and Edmonton, and shuttle services from Fort McMurray or Surrounding areas

  • Accommodations : Camp accommodations are provided

  • Shift and Work Hours : Varies

  • Duration : Varies

  • Overtime Eligibility : Varies

This position will apply, remove and repair thermal and acoustical insulation (e.g., calcium silicate, glass foam, mineral wool, styrofoam, fibreglass) on all types of industrial equipment (e.g., duct piping, heat exchange angers, tanks, vessels).

May include the following responsibilities:

  • Responsibly do all work tasks expected of an apprentice

  • Installation, fitting, fabrication and attachment of insulation, finishing and weatherproofing materials

  • Use efficiently and safely all hand and power operated equipment used by the insulation industry.

  • Read and correctly interpret blueprints, specifications and building codes.

  • Thoroughly describe insulation materials and their uses.

  • Describe all systems requiring insulation.

  • Co-ordinate insulation work with other trades on the job site.

  • Comply with all safety regulations of the construction industry.

  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry.

Minimum Requirements

  • Hours apprenticing under a Journeyman Industrial Insulator.

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification

  • First Aid Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a live plant.

  • Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket) Certification.

  • H2S Alive, EWP/AWP, First Aid, Confined Space

  • Previous experience with Maintenance - Shutdown, outage and/or turnaround
