AECOM Entry-Level Asbestos and Lead Paint Inspector in Germantown, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Asbestos and Lead Paint Inspector for employment in the Germantown, MD office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform hazardous building materials surveys (asbestos, lead paint, etc.)

  • Prepare the associated survey reports

  • Perform abatement oversight.

  • Perform the work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Perform work in both the field and office, and be able to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from one week to three months, as needed.

  • Assist with other EHS compliance projects (i.e., site assessments, subsurface investigations, etc.) as a secondary responsibility and as needed based on workload.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must have US citizenship and be willing to travel out-of-town for durations ranging from approximately one week to three months, as needed. Travel will vary greatly and depend on the workload/projects at any given time.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to safely drive extended distances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant environmental discipline

  • Ability to interact with architects and engineers on fast-paced building renovation designs requiring the development of asbestos/building hazardous materials program requirements, drawings, specifications, and design narratives.

  • Tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a range of weather conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, and lift objects up to 50lbs.

  • Requires entrance into the AECOM Medical Monitoring Program which includes initial and annual physicals and may include client required drug screens.

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.

  • EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification.

  • EPA Lead Inspector certification.

  • Experience in CADD or GIS.
