AECOM Entry-Level GIS/CAD Specialist in Germantown, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level GIS and CADD Specialist for employment in the Germantown, MD office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for conducting editing procedures in ArcMap, working with ArcSDE versioned, enterprise geodatabases, working with users to troubleshoot ArcMap and ArcCatalog operational processes, entry of data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases using techniques such as coordinate geometry scanning and georeferencing of images, automatic conversion to vectors and conversion of other sources of digital data

  • Provides technical support for the creation and visualization of data layers and map products using ArcGIS software products

  • Updates the GIS master database layers for spatial geometry and attributes and the metatdata associated with each GIS data layer

  • Generates/regenerates standard map products and maintain, update and document GIS data standards and the specifications for digital data deliverables

  • Conducts and consults on data needs assessments

  • Reviews technical requirements to meet data development objectives and perform quality assurance on data deliverables received for inclusion in the GIS

  • Works under direct supervision

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS)

  • Must have the ability to work with a team of professionals and have excellent time management skills

  • Will be required to work independently and communicate directly with customers from environmental, public works, engineering and other business areas

  • Proficiency with the ESRI suite of desktop mapping and analysis tools and extensions
