AECOM Entry Level Ecologist in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Ecologist for employment in the Greenwood Village, CO office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. You will gain experience in your discipline through learning on the job and participate in development opportunities during the program, including access to AECOM's social media resources, group mentoring, and professional networking. The program also has learning activities that will be available to you, including webinars and on-line programs.

The responsibilities of this internship include, but are not limited to:

  • Keen interest and understanding wildlife

  • US plant and animal (indirect and direct field signs) identification

  • Excellent field skills

  • Previous exposure to protected species surveys

  • Client-focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach

  • Hard working and highly motivated

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills Commitment to continued education and improvement through our approved training schemes

  • Good knowledge of all US environmental law and an understanding of the relevant planning systems

  • Previous work experience in the ecology sector (eg, with an NGO as a volunteer or within a professional consultancy)

  • Ability to record data efficiently and methodically

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Drivers Licence

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Protected species license

  • Postgraduate qualification in relevant subject

  • Membership of or working towards full membership of appropriate professional institution

  • Evidence of published work in ecology field
