Job Description

Performs complex BIM or Plant Data Centric assignments involving the use of multiple application platforms, such as Revit, Intergraph SmartPlant, Plant 3D, etc. software, to achieve set results and deadlines

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works under limited supervision.

  • Provides training and technical support to design staff on the Building Information Modeling system, which provides 3D models using project specifications and content.

  • Direct project support and production to assigned projects and create the drawings as required using the standards and content to meet the job requirements (objects within the drawing, doors, lights, etc.).

  • Develops and maintains HVAC system designs, including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts, ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers, to coordinate HVAC systems integration within the overall building design.

  • Performs clash detection and resolution using BIM software to identify and resolve conflicts between HVAC systems and other building components.

  • Conducts energy modeling and analysis to optimize HVAC system performance and efficiency.

  • Prepares detailed technical specifications and equipment schedules for HVAC systems.

  • Participates in client meetings and presentations to discuss HVAC design concepts, challenges, and solutions.

  • Mentors junior designers and drafters, providing guidance on HVAC design principles and BIM best practices.

  • Ensures quality control of HVAC designs and BIM models through regular reviews and audits.

  • Stays current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulations related to HVAC design and BIM implementation.

  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of company HVAC design standards and BIM templates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design and BIM implementation.

  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.

  • Experience with other software like Revizto and MicroStation is a plus.

  • Thorough understanding of HVAC systems, building codes, and industry standards.

  • Proven ability to manage complex BIM projects from concept to completion.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff on BIM best practices.

  • Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy modeling software.

  • Professional certification such as PE, LEED AP, or ASHRAE certification is preferred.

  • Experience with cloud-based collaboration tools and project management software.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in HVAC and BIM.
