Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Senior NEPA Compliance Project Manager to join our Environmental Planning Group. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to join our interdisciplinary team to manage projects related to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting. Your ability to manage NEPA projects; oversee staff; perform quality assurance and control; communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders; and write technical assessments related to NEPA compliance is critical.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in the social, environmental, or physical sciences and experience in contributing to complex environmental studies for land use planning and environmental management. This position requires excellent communication, technical, and writing skills; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Opportunities for growth include development of client relationships, marketing and business development, and leading interdisciplinary teams on diverse projects.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Leads and manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.

  • Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans and plats.

  • Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.

  • Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.

  • Develops plans, studies and analyses on regional basis.

  • Works in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others.

  • Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.

  • Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, planning, economics, or a related field and 8+ years of relevant NEPA experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with NEPA compliance, environmental permitting, technical report writing, or project management

  • Knowledge of federal environmental laws and their implementing regulations, including, but not limited to: National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act

  • Knowledge of current issues and projects related to the Bureau of Land Management, Reclamation, Forest Service, and other federally administered lands

  • Excellent organization and time-management

  • Experience planning for or managing recreation, land use, or wilderness areas

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $135,000.00.
