AECOM Entry Level Water Resources Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Summary

The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a motivated, highly talented Entry Level Water Resource Engineer for immediate employment in the Kansas City, MO office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of surface hydrology, open channel flow and bridge and culvert hydraulics. Our department uses spatial data, LiDAR and field survey coupled with the latest 1D/2D modeling software to identify flooding hazards in communities across the nation. The successful candidate will work side by side with a team of engineers and GIS professionals that develop cutting edge processes to deliver high quality flood hazard information to the client and the local communities in a timely and efficient manner.

As an Engineer I in AECOM’s Kansas City, MO Water Division, you will:

  • Develop hydrologic models using a variety of methods and software

  • Develop 1D and 2D hydraulic models that simulate steady state and unsteady flow regimes using the latest software

  • Produce maps, reports and databases to communicate the results of the hydraulic analyses to industry professionals, public officials, and the public

  • Perform self-checks and peer reviews to adhere to both client and internal quality standards and processes

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or AA/AS (US) + 2 YORE or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 2 YORE or HS/GED + 4 YORE

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or similar field

  • 0-2 years of related work experience (water resources, surveying)

  • E.I.T. obtained

  • Experience with HEC-RAS

  • ArcGIS knowledge and experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suit (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
