AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Engineer for employment in the Long Beach, CA office to support a variety of environmental projects including environmental site investigation, remedial designs, remedial construction, permitting and reporting.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Builds analytic and design skills.
Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an
Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
Develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities through assigned tasks
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations, design drawings, specifications, and visual aids
Assist with field work (e.g., groundwater and soil sampling, well installation, and contractor oversight)
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance, and draft reports based on observed conclusions and professional judgment
Task manage portions of larger projects and mentor junior level staff or interns
Operates and maintains remediation systems
BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid US Driver’s License
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training
Contractor oversight experience
Construction inspection experience
Remedial investigation, remediation planning, or design experience
Previous field work, a plus
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models or other drainage and water modeling software)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s degree Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering
0-2 years’ experience in environmental consulting or related field
Demonstrated technical writing abilities
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
