Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Highway Design Civil Engineering Intern to be based in Mechanicsburg / Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

This position is expected to begin in June 2025.

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of roadway geometry, traffic control, as well as signing and pavement markings

  • Utility coordination support

  • Computer Aided Design production

  • Quantities and cost estimates

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a college or university pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • Must have 1 year of completed study towards B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software

  • MicroStation and/or Autodesk familiarity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate effective time management, task prioritization, and strong interpersonal skills

  • Valid US Driver's License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices, Selected candidate will undergo a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $21.00/hour - $28.00/hour.
