Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Fire Alarm Systems Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in our New York Metro Region .

Daily duties and responsibilities include:

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

  • Review drawings, specifications, and procedures for technical discrepancies.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and procedures for technical discrepancies

  • Coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetings

  • Review shop drawings, record changes and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors and client representatives as required

  • Prepare construction estimates and engineering budgets

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements;

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Level II NICET Certification in Fire Alarms Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering license (NY, NJ)

  • In this position the ideal candidate shall have experience in the design and implementation of the fire alarm systems, which include a minimum of 2 years of fire detection and signaling systems experience, which MUST include experience in fire alarm or other code-driven and/or life safety electrical building systems

  • 5 years of experience of designing, testing and commissioning fire alarm systems with the NY MTA with an Engineering Firm, Transit Authority or System Integrator

  • Smoke control systems and interfaces including air sampling systems

  • Experience with EVACS and Mass Notification Systems

  • Experience with Code compliance and plan review of code required systems

  • Experience in the development and review design plans and technical specification

  • Experience in the design, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, maintenance, or estimating of:Low voltage systems (Fire preferred), Building electrical power or control systems, Special hazards systems and moke control systems and interfaces including air sampling systems

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $140,000.00.
