Job Description

AECOM is on the hunt for a rock-star Geologist to join our Miramar Beach, FL office! Get ready to embark on an exciting journey supporting our Environmental business line, primarily working on Department of Defense (DoD) projects. Buckle up for an adventure that includes:

  • Tackle technical problems with finesse

  • Crafting work plans and reports that read like bestsellers

  • Channeling your inner data whisperer to interpret and record date, conduct analysis, compare finds and ensure we're playing by the rules of local, state and federal regulations

  • Donning your explorer hat to plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measures in natural systems.

  • Embracing your inner MacGyver as you wield basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, and sediment.

  • Flexing your mental muscles by applying knowledge of natural sciences to explain observations.

  • Becoming the environmental Avenger as you study contaminants and devise plans to restore the environment.

  • Crafting data and scientific documents that are so engaging, even non-geologists will want to read them!

  • Leading unsupervised field tasks like a boss (because who needs supervision when you're this awesome?).

  • Directing staff with the charisma of a geological rock star (pun intended).

  • Playing data detective to review analytical results and ensure quality and adherence to guidellines

  • Coordinating with task and project managers, subcontractors, and field staff, ensuring everyone's in sync for the grand performance of sampling, data collection and field documentation

  • Being the go-to guru for all things geology.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology) + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology).

  • Professional registration or on track to obtain professional registration.

  • Ability to travel for fieldwork and/or meetings. This position may require occasional travel within the United States.

  • Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies

  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.

  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire

  • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable

  • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.

  • Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.

Additional Information

Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions and be medically fit for wearing a respirator.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $90,000.00.
