Job Description
AECOM GTA is hiring a Deputy Design Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for leading multi-disciplinary project delivery for complex subway station DB/PDB projects
Participate to continuously review and improve the overall project strategy to meet design schedule and budget with the ability to support staging and phasing requirements.
Organize independently work plans and design activities for projects of medium/high complexity
Participate actively in the preparation and alignment to a schedule of deliverables in collaboration with the Project Controls team
Ensure fluid communication between the project management team, the design team, construction team and the various internal and external partners
Verifies that the schedule and budget data match the progress of the professional services throughout execution of the project.
Coordinates the preparation of the design criteria by the team leads
Convenes, chairs and documents interdisciplinary design coordination meetings and brings forward updates and any critical issues that impact external partners to the Project Manager and the Technical Director.
May serve as liaison between the construction contract administrator and engineering team during construction.
Participate and inputs to constructability reviews, risk management plans, value engineering sessions, QA/QC comments
Contribute to preparation of contract documents, technical specifications, design report and drawing
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree + 6 years of relevant experience in transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant experience in transportation
Professional registration in Ontario or equivalent professional association registration and ability / willingness to transfer to Ontario in limited time
7+ years of design management experience on large multi-discipline engineering teams (500 mil +) with experience in complex station design and transit facilities.
Understanding of depots (bus and rail) and stations (at grade, elevated and underground)
Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) on multi-discipline projects
The ability to deal with uncertainty, changing and multiple priorities
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills applied to design activities for contractors
Excellent oral and written skills as well as interpersonal/teamwork skills
Ability to work in a matrix organization
Proven success to supervise and review the work of less experienced engineers, train interns on numerical modelling
Ability to liaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $105,000.00 - $145,000.00.
