Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Geologist/Scientist for employment in the Morrisville, NC office.   • Geologist will support execution of projects involving soil and groundwater investigation, compliance, and remediation activities in accordance with the Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, or other regulatory programs

  • Assisting Project Managers in efficient execution of project scope of work on time and within budget

  • Providing field services for site investigation, drilling, UST removal, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work

  • Provide office support for data management and report preparation

  • Maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Geology or Environmental Science

  • Preferred 0-2 years of environmental experience (Experience in soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well drilling and construction management)

  • Good communicator, self-motivated, good mechanical aptitude, and competent use of safe-work behaviors

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel; Access a plus) are desirable

  • Must be able to write and convey thoughts, and organize data in an efficient and clear manner; have excellent attention to detail; effectively multi-task; and desire to contribute to a dynamic team

  • Non-office/field skills: problem solving, mechanical knowledge

  • Report writing, data organization, and presentation

  • Understanding and application of the fundamentals of schedule and budget management to project tasks

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator

  • Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round)

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Geology or Environmental Science

  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training (29 CFR 1910.120)

  • CADD / ARC-GIS experience

  • Experienced in soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well drilling and construction management

  • Aquifer testing, groundwater/fate and transport modeling experience

  • Geophysical instrumentation/interpretation experience

  • Mechanical, problem solving skills
