Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Environmental Planner with experience in regulatory compliance and task management to support some of California's most exciting power, water, and transportation infrastructure projects. This position would report to AECOM’s Oakland or Sacramento offices and would support a variety of projects throughout California and the West. While connected to one of AECOM’s Northern California offices, the right candidate may also be considered for remote work from other US-based locations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with clients and internal staff on complex projects involving biological resource protection, regulatory permitting, CEQA/NEPA support, mitigation, and/or restoration.

  • Act as Task Lead or Project Manager on multiple projects, including responsible and timely management of tasks, schedules, and project teams.

  • Prepare and/or provide technical review of technical memorandums, permit application packages, and other technical reports.

  • Contribute as an active and positive member of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting practice in the Western/Central US.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Ecology, Environmental Planning, or a related field.

  • 4 years of relevant work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in environmental planning and permitting.

  • Valid U.S Driver's license is required for this role.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of and experience with the California Environmental Quality Act and/or National Environmental Policy Act.

  • Familiarity with permit triggers and requirements, and typical challenges and strategies related to environmental permitting and impact avoidance.

  • Experience developing and managing project budgets.

  • Experience as a Task Lead or Project Manager on projects involving regulatory permitting, environmental documents, or biological surveys and monitoring.

  • Working knowledge of key special-status species in northern California, and the associated state and federal environmental protections.

  • Experience in permitting projects with federal and California state agencies related to fish and wildlife, wetlands and waters, and/or coastal development.

  • Experience as primary author and/or reviewer of complex environmental documents.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Positive attitude and adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Good organizational skills and a strong detail-oriented work style.

Additional Information

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00.
