AECOM Engineer/Cost Estimator Intern in Omaha, Nebraska

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineer/Cost Estimator Intern for employment in the Omaha, NE office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

This position is responsible for activities related to estimating all the elements of project cost, including labor, materials and permanent equipment, supplies, consumables and expenses, and construction equipment rental and operating costs, contingency, escalation and program risk, etc.This position requires completion of three years of qualified study in engineering or related field. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and time management skills, solid technical writing and organizational skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study

  • Intern 1 – completion of first year of qualified study

Minimum Requirements

  • AA/AS (US) + None or Diploma/Certification (Canada) + None

  • Proficient MS office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Must have an understanding of construction means, methods, and sequences

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous estimating software experience is an asset

  • Ability to generate project construction schedules

  • Knowledge of MS Project
