Job Description
AECOM ’s West Region is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Project Engineer to join the Orange, California Geo-Civil team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on very challenging projects including Dams, Levees, Pipelines, Bridges, Tunnels, Building Structures, and other Facilities, and collaborate with a wide range of different disciplines.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Oversee subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Southern California
Review and assign laboratory testing for geotechnical samples
Oversee inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards
Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations
Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations
Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work
Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents
Assemble and document geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel, Word, gINT, AutoCAD
Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Candidate must have a valid driver's license
Professional engineering license or ability to gain one within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Civil Engineering
Ten (10) years or more of experience
Geotechnical California GE registration is a plus
Working knowledge of relevant California seismic code provisions
Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
Local travel may be required
Experience working with local permitting jurisdictions
OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $135,000.00.
