Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Geologist II to join our Remediation Practice based in Orlando, FL. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients.

The selected candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across FL. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude.

The selected candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team and will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.

The job responsibilities for the position will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

  • Must be able to pass Federal Background Check to gain access to DoD project sites.

  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment and random substance abuse test.

  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a medical screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, Hydrogeology or Environmental Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting and field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations for site characterization and remediation, analytical data interpretation, and reporting

  • Professional Geologist License or Geologist in Training Certificate.

  • Familiarity with common drilling techniques for environmental work.

  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

  • Knowledge of RCRA or CERCLA processes.

  • Experience with local regulatory agencies (FDEP, EPA, etc.)

  • Reporting experience in routine monitoring, site investigation work plans, conceptual site model, and well installation reports.

  • Task management or project management experience.

  • Proposal writing a plus.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $90,000.00.
