Job Summary

AECCOM is actively seeking a highly motivated OCS Design Engineer interested in joining a growing overhead electrification design practice with tremendous advancement potential and the opportunity to gain experience on a variety of challenging rail projects in our Philadelphia, PA office. This position will include working with a dedicated team of overhead electrification professionals on a broad range of projects including various catenary systems types and configurations.

Responsibilities will include the full range of catenary design and analysis tasks, including conductor loading, structural pole and foundation calculations, transmission line and catenary clearance analyses, OCS support and wiring layout designs and equipment allocations for commuter rail, light rail and streetcar systems. The position will include the development of contract drawings, writing of specifications and development of cost estimates for design projects and assisting with site walk-outs as needed.

This position will incorporate the use of CADD/MicroStation, a variety of design software packages, including STAAD and GTStrudl and MS Office applications. Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibility are best qualified to meet the demands of this work.

An applicant is expected to be able to apply technical training to perform various calculations and to solve unique design challenges. The applicant must work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills. A demonstrated ability to learn quickly and technical proficiency in a range of engineering principles is a requirement. The position will require the ability to effectively work on multiple projects with diverse scope and scale.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Structural Engineering emphasis

  • Past internship in rail industry

  • AutoCAD/Microstation experience in school or internships
