Job Description
Project Planning and Coordination:
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop MEP design plans that meet project requirements and objectives.
Participate in project planning meetings to provide input on MEP system design, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
MEP Design Management:
Lead the design development process for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems.
Review and approve design drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical submittals to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Coordinate with design consultants and internal design teams to resolve conflicts, discrepancies, and technical issues in the MEP design.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Assist in the development of project budgets and cost estimates for MEP systems design and installation.
Monitor project expenses, track costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or performance.
Procurement and Vendor Management:
Collaborate with procurement teams to source MEP equipment, materials, and subcontractor services required for project execution.
Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to support construction activities.
Construction Supervision:
Provide on-site supervision and oversight of MEP installation activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Coordinate with construction teams to resolve field-related issues, change orders, and modifications to the MEP systems as needed.
Quality Assurance and Testing:
Implement quality assurance programs and procedures to verify the integrity, functionality, and performance of MEP systems throughout the construction process.
Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems to identify deficiencies, troubleshoot problems, and ensure proper functionality and operation.
Team Leadership and Communication:
Supervise and mentor MEP engineering staff, designers, and project team members to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Communicate regularly with project stakeholders to provide updates, resolve issues, and address concerns related to MEP design and construction activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in MEP design and construction management, with a focus on building projects.
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems design and installation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other MEP design software.
Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems design and installation.
