Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer IV for immediate employment in the Roanoke, VA. office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. This position is for a hybrid work environment for 2 days at home and 3 days in the office.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes.

  • Experience designing medium/low voltage power distribution, lighting, lightning protection, security, and other low voltage systems for DOD/Federal, Industrial, Commercial, Higher Education and High Rise, and Wastewater.

  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.

  • Attend project meetings, or when appropriate, delegates activities.

  • Meet with clients and prepares technical presentations while maintaining good client relations.

  • Represents the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organizations.

  • Working with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities

  • Performing Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)

  • One line diagrams, Switchgear/Switchboard/Panelboard Layouts, Equipment layouts and sectional views

  • Cable Schedules

  • Complying with hazardous area classification codes and standards

  • Developing construction and equipment specifications

  • Supporting projects during construction – Submittal/Contractor RFI Review

  • Grounding Analysis and Design

  • Reviewing engineering work performed by peers

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program with 6 years of design experience

  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD

  • PE License

  • Valid US Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.

  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)

  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Code

  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Safety Code

  • Working knowledge of NFPA and IEEE Regulatory Codes

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings

  • Ability to switch between working on multiple/different projects daily

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $92,892.80 - $171,787.20.
