Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Roanoke, Virginia. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to begin their career in civil engineering and contribute to exciting projects in our community.

  • Assist in the design and development of civil engineering projects under the supervision of experienced engineers.

  • Conduct site visits and collect field data for analysis and project planning.

  • Perform engineering calculations and create design drawings using CAD software.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas to improve design efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for project submissions.

  • Support senior engineers in project management tasks and client communications.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in civil engineering.

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and project schedules.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies within the team.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Very Familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or ability to take in the next 6 months.

  • Some experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other civil engineering-related software (Civil 3D, OpenRoads).

  • Previous work experience or internship with engineering firms, contractors, or DOTs involved in highway design, construction, management, or other transportation-related projects.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $67,000.00 - $72,000.00.
