Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Traffic Engineer based in Lake Mary, Florida. The TMC Traffic Engineer will provide support in a 24/7/365 environment where freeway and arterial traffic is managed. This position will work for the RTMC Operations Project Manager and under the guidance of a well-experienced engineer. The daily work schedule is expected to be the normal day shift but may require occasional deviation to assist where needed.
Responsibilities:
Provide freeway and arterial management using FDOT's ATMS software
Assisting with the development and review of performance measures
Collect data and identify opportunities for a continual improvement process
Assist with the development and delivery of training materials
Act as the primary liaison between the TMC, local maintaining agencies, and client personnel for arterial management.
Monitor local agency ATMS and Centralized software relating to signal timing operations; identify opportunities for improved level of service
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Identify new and innovative ways to display data for situational awareness and client transparency
Perform additional tasks as required, adapting to evolving contract needs.
TMC Transportation Data Scientist will:
Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Complete tasks within the agreed budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS Civil Engineering or related field and 4 years of traffic operations experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred:
Knowledge and experience with ATMS software
Experience working with signal timing, identifying issues, and recommending improvements
Signal optimization experience
Connected vehicle technologies knowledge or experience
Experience with Power BI and/or other data visualization software
Experience with data collection and analysis
Experience communicating to other staff and clients
Experience working independently and with guidance.
Experience working within a team environment
MS or PhD in Civil Engineering or related field

Visa support is not an option for this position
Relocation is not an option for this position
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00.
