Job Description

What your new role will entail:

You will be responsible for leading the technical delivery of network modelling projects across the UK. We envisage that you will use your experience to lead on the implementation of modelling best practice, develop robust technical approaches for the delivery of modelling projects, and will take ownership of delivery of these projects to ensure that they are completed to a high standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Technically lead and deliver water recycling (wastewater) network modelling projects including model build and flow survey verification.

  • Use hydraulic models to develop solutions to provide flood risk and / or water quality benefits.

  • Undertake quality assurance of technical work within your area of expertise.

  • Mentor and support the development of junior colleagues.

  • Take ownership of project delivery through supporting the management of project programmes, budgets and quality assurance procedures.

  • Take a proactive approach to managing client relationships and expectations.

  • Engage with wider business lines to develop and strengthen internal AECOM cross-sector working relationships.

  • Assist with the preparation of bids and proposals.

Being part of the team:

Our modelling community provides technical services into a broad range of water resources and water engineering projects across the UK from project appraisal and business case development, through design to operation, maintenance and asset management. We are an industry leader in the application of Blue-Green infrastructure and nature-based solutions and we also advise and develop guidance which benchmarks industry best practice, meaning AECOM is at the cutting edge in the Water industry.

Our modelling community supports framework delivery for water company clients including Anglian Water, NI Water, Severn Trent Water, South-West Water and Uisce Eireann. With unprecedent levels of investment going into AMP8 and an industry-wide focus on storm overflows, our water recycling network modellers have a critical part to play building and verifying models that give our clients a robust technical evidence base for decision making and solution development.

In addition to training colleagues new to modelling, we’re also building capacity through the development of tools and scripts which can help automate processes, improve efficiency and drive quality. You’ll be encouraged to innovate and improve, supported by the wider modelling community within AECOM.

Qualifications

Here’s what we will need from you:

  • Practical experience in the application of hydraulic modelling techniques within the UK water industry, specifically InfoWorks ICM.

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or another related discipline.

  • A track record of leading the successful delivery of water projects in the UK, including liaison with private/public sector clients and regulators.
