AECOM Entry Level Civil/Highway Engineer in Tallahassee, Florida

The Civil/Highway Engineering Department of AECOM’s Transportation Business Line is actively seeking a civil engineer for employment in our Tallahassee, FL office. Under the supervision of a Project Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a Design Team responsible for the design of small to large-scale highway interstate/limited access highway projects. Design responsibilities include: horizontal/vertical geometry, pavement design, 3D modeling, intersection/interchange design, traffic control/staging, signing and pavement marking design, drainage, storm water management, E&S, ADA, pedestrian and bicycle design, etc.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:
Obtain and review existing information including some field work/site investigations.
Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Assist in the development of roadway construction, intersection grading, traffic control, signing and pavement marking, E&SPC and post-construction storm water management plans.
Develop 3D models using civil engineering software such as Bentley Inroads or Autodesk Civil 3D.
Assist in the preparation of technical reports and project specifications.
Builds analytic and design skills.
Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an

Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering or other related field required
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as of Land Desktop/AutoCAD, InRoads, InSite, and MicroStation)
Ideal candidate would have some previous work experience with engineering firms, contractors or DOT’s involved in design, construction or management of highway of other transportation related projects.
Experience with Microstation, AutoCAD or other civil engineering related software (Civil 3D, Inroads, StormCAD, Pondpak).
Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
Very Familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Work, Excel, Power Point)
