Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places , AECOM’s Architectural business, is seeking a Senior Design Architect to join our team. This position could be based out of any of our Greater Toronto Area offices with remote/hybrid work options permitted.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.

We are seeking a Senior Design Architect who will champion our ethos of collaborative innovation and spearhead projects that leave a lasting impact on OMSF complexes nationwide. This professional will work with senior members of the design team and provide direction to novice staff to develop design solutions appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of architectural projects. They will collaborate with other professional disciplines and have opportunities to coordinate the design through all phases of the project.

Major Responsibilities:
Leadership and Innovation:
We are looking for visionary leaders who can drive innovation and inspire teams. The ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-disciplinary teams is highly valued.
Leadership in Design:
Craft groundbreaking designs that serve as benchmarks for the industry, guiding projects from inception to completion.
Client Engagement:
Build and nurture relationships with clients, ensuring their visions are translated into progressive architectural designs.
Ensure projects are delivered at the calibre and quality necessary to secure repeat business.
Project Management:
Oversee the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination and exceptional quality standards.
Acts as an integrator of solutions; ensures a good understanding of the problem and the solution and explains the options to clients.
Attends client meetings and makes client presentations.
Project Delivery:
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver cohesive and sustainable design solutions.
Maintains effective dialogue with regulatory bodies and standards organizations.
Reviews information from reports and published documents; evaluates and analyzes the information to understand broad requirements of project.
Develops complex technical designs to ensure an exemplary solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines and budgetary requirements.
Responsible to oversee development of Architectural design.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must at a very minimum, possess:
- No less than a University Degree in Architecture plus six (6) years of experience as a Registered Architect with the OAA.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:
Prefer ten (10) or more years of experience as a Registered Architect with the OAA
Experience on Industrial Projects, including Transit and Operations, Maintenance, and Storage Facilities preferably for municipal, rail and bus electrification.
Certifications: LEED certification and familiarity with OAA/AAA/AIBC/OAQ/AIA are highly regarded.
Skills: Proficiency in REVIT, BIM, MS Office, Adobe Suite, and strong communication abilities are essential.
Business Development: Ability to drive growth by identifying new opportunities and fostering enduring client partnerships.

Company paid relocation is not available for this position.
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $93,000.00 - $130,000.00.
