Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places , AECOM’s Architectural business, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based out of our Winnipeg office with opportunities for hybrid-work.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.
Major Responsibilities:
Key member of the mechanical design team responsible for design and construction administration of various facilities
Provide conceptual design at the early stages of the project and develop the concept to high quality detailed design, co-ordinate with all disciplines;
Design HVAC, Controls, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems;
Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using standard industry programs (Carrier HAP);
Perform calculations, conduct design drawing reviews, and field investigations;
Ensure design conforms with all applicable codes and client standards;
Write/ edit mechanical specifications.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent + four (4) years of experience in the mechanical design of various buildings.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
Preferred Requirements:
7-12 years of experience in the Buildings Engineering Industry, including experience in Water/Wastewater Treatment and Collection Facilities an asset.
Significant project experience with NFPA 820, Standard for Fire Protection in Wastewater Treatment and Collection Facilities an asset.
Strong Consulting Industry background in Canada.
In-depth knowledge of HVAC, Hydronic Systems, Controls, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
Experience in LEED/ Net Zero design preferred.
Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
Very strong communication skills, spoken and written; good presentation skills.
Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or non-technical audience.
Able to work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Information
Company paid relocation is not available for this position.
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Travel to construction sites to conduct mechanical inspections and prepare reports is required. Some out-of-town travel expected.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $120,000.00.
