Job Description

AECOM is searching for a Civil Engineer to be based in our Yellowknife office for a full time 40/week position. The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, the design, and construction of municipal infrastructure and is familiar with hydraulic modelling and planning principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy, and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal storm water, water, and wastewater, environmental and transportation sector.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Prepare construction cost estimates

  • Preparation of project specifications and contract documents

  • Perform constructability reviews

  • Perform contract administration

  • Perform construction inspections

  • Build/run hydraulic models including green infrastructure

  • Perform hydraulic model verification, calibration, and assessment

  • Develop/review water, sanitary, storm water master/management plans

Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design

elements for engineering works.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree +4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field +6 years of related experience.

  • Experience with civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administration

  • Eligible for registration as P. Eng.

  • Training and experience in project management

  • Experience in proposal writing and job scoping

  • Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment

  • Excellent written skills needed for technical reports

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00.
